STUDIO KEVIN ABOSCH: PERSONAL EFFECTS (2018)

“Personal Effects” is part of Abosch’s “I AM A COIN” project in which the artist uses his own blood to create a series of physical artworks whose “meaningful existence” is only made possible by the creation of 10 million virtual artworks (ERC-20 tokens called IAMA Coins on the Ethereum Blockchain / Symbol: IAMA). Canvas sacs imprinted with blockchain wallet addresses rest on the floor or hang from hooks on the wall. The blockchain addresses contain an amount of IAMA coins but because the private keys to these wallets have not been saved, they are virtually dead. Abosch sees these virtual artworks as pieces of himself and therefore exist as relics or personal effects.
