For his series "Somewhere in Los Angeles," Abosch captured over 250,000 images of Los Angeles over a period of three months using an iPhone 13 Max Pro, Leica M11, Sony A7rIII and A7rIV. Working with machine learning algorithms (AI) and models trained on large datasets of the artist's own photographs, Kevin Abosch's synthetic photographs are notable for the corruptions in his images forced by subverting the algorithms. Abosch believes that these visual corruptions reveal complex truths and help in unlocking emotional value. The images question the increasingly ambiguous boundaries between the real and the fictional in an age of digital technology and accelerated image production.
